Our Thanks

Well Ryan continues to get stronger a little at a time.  He is fully nursing with me.  I wish I could be at all his feedings to prove to them he can feed on his own but that’s hard to do.  The doctors are figuring that out slowly.  I’m sure he would do just fine with all me.  He still has his “brady” spells of his heart rate dropping but that is even getting better.  So it is all a maturity thing.  He’s so cute though!  I’m really starting to get attached.  Jessica definitely had her hand in all of this.  Anyway, I do want to throw out a huge special thank you to Karin my girlfriend who was the one who donated her eggs to Tom and I.  Nothing I were to say would even come close to the gratitude I feel.  She made this pregnancy possible and a reality. From the bottom of my heart Karin, Thank you a million times over. I would have never thought about egg donation.  Thank you for bringing that up and thank you Eric for allowing her to make this decision. You will be a special part in our lives and Ryan one day will know what you did.  Thank you again from the both of us.  Have a good weekend all and pray for those kids who are having tough times and their families.  Take Care……

Glad to hear Ryan is getting stronger each day. He will be home before you know it so get your sleep while you can because even if he isn’t waking up all night when he gets home, you’ll probably be up giving him kisses all night - maybe I should be telling him to get his sleep while he can (LOL). Happy belated birthday to Thomas and God Bless Karin for such a wonderful gift!! We’ll be praying for Ryan to come home soon….

Julie and Tom, I’ve been following your story for a long time, and I’ve never messaged before (not sure why) but somehow I feel I know you all so well. I was crying when I heard of Ryans birth, I was so excited and thrilled for you all. My baby girl was born 7 weeks early so a lot of things Ryan and your family are going through we went through as well. She was just shy of 4 pounds when she was born. I had to convince the doctors that the best thing was for her to come home with me. In the hospital she was fussy about her feedings, having lots of brady spells, not gaining much weight, etc. Once I got her home she gained a whole pound the first week! She came home with a heart monitor for the bradycardia, but didnt have nearly as many episodes as she was having in the nicu (probably from being held ALL THE TIME haha) I remember almost being afraid of her she so small and fragile, but once I had her at home everything fell into place and I can almost exactly remember the moment I “fell in love with her” Anyway, she stayed on the monitor until she was about 8 months old, and today she is a beautiful healthy 17 year old. After everything you have already experienced, having a preemie should seem like a breeze!!!
After she got older I volunteered and got involved in some parent support classes at the hospital where she was born for parents of preemies, tips and hints to help parents cope with fear and stress of the tiny wonders. I just wanted to share with you and wish you the best, and I cant wait to see more pics of Ryan and rest of the family.
    Lots of Love!
